President’s Message

As we begin our twentieth year at Holdsworth Construction Inc., we look back with pride, not only on the work completed but more importantly the lifelong friends and relationships we have developed with our clients and associated subcontractors.  In 1969 my father, a university professor, began the business part time as GH & Sons Construction.  He did additions, remodeling and new construction during the summer break and as time allowed during the school year.  It was during those years working by his side that I learned to love the satisfaction that comes from building and the sense of accomplishment that comes with work well done.  Today, I am proud of our employees and the skills they have developed during our many years together.  Because we self-perform all the carpentry tasks involved in building construction we remain one of the few contractors that actually construct the projects we are commissioned to build.  In 2015 HCI marked the beginning of becoming a three-generation family business.  Looking forward we are excited by the new opportunities ahead while building on a successful history.

Our Mission remains to craft exceptional projects which fulfill the diverse needs and desires of our extraordinary clients with craftsmanship we will continue to be proud of twenty years plus from now.

Born in 1962, Jon started working with his father in 1969 as a helper and clean- up boy. At the age of 12 he worked full time in a cabinet shop performing basic material preparation and sanding. He continued in the construction industry through junior and senior high school. In his junior year he won the Stanley Tools high school national wood working contest. He was the foreman of a small construction crew the summer prior to his freshman year of college. Graduating with a degree in civil engineering in 1988 he stayed in construction after college. He took over the day to day operations of Holdsworth Construction in 1997.

Vice President

Grant graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Construction Management in 2009. Following his graduation, he took a job with Walsh Construction in Holtwood, Pennsylvania, as a project engineer for the construction of a hydroelectric power plant. During his three years on that project he supervised many different aspects of the construction process. In 2012 Grant took a project management position with Truesdell Corporation in Tempe Arizona, and spent three years working on a variety of construction projects throughout the southwest.

Phil started working with Holdsworth in 1998 as a framing carpenter. After showing a remarkable understanding of the building process, he began working on the trim carpentry and building custom cabinets as well. He continued to show a strong work ethic and a high attention to detail and was promoted to superintendent in 2003. Since then he has been a key employee with Holdsworth and has overseen the start to finish process of over 200 homes. His relentless pursuit towards the highest quality in construction has helped continue the reputation of Holdsworth Construction as one of the top builders in Flagstaff.

Rocky has managed a variety of projects from small home renovations to multimillion dollar commercial projects. Building and managing complex constriction project with tight time lines has been his passion throughout his career. Safety, sustainability, and leading his teams in way that cultivates growth is just a few ways he makes our projects run smoothly with great end results. His experience in construction, People management, Budget control, Scheduling, and Customer service experience makes him a key player in any projects done by Holdsworth Construction.

As an owners employee, David has 40 years of experience as a design and construction team member for major projects, and managing a project management team simultaneously managing multiple vertical and horizontal projects.
